Humanitarian Service and Education

2011

The Consortium for Humanitarian Service and Education (CHSE) provides intensive hands-on opportunities for domestic and international disaster relief and humanitarian workers to learn how to conduct safe and effective relief operations.

The Consortium is an award-winning collaborative effort of academic, government, and non-governmental organizations in the United States and Europe that develops curriculum and organizes three annual events:

    - Humanitarian Studies Conference: 11-13 November 2011

    - ATLANTIC HOPE: Florida 8 - 11 March 2012

    - SVETLINA: May 2012

ATLANTIC HOPE and SVETLINA are civilian-designed and civilian-led exercises that recreate the challenges and conditions humanitarian operators encounter in the real world.

Past participants have included students and practitioners in emergency management, humanitarian assistance, post-conflict reconstruction, stability and peace-building, psychology, criminal justice, geography and political science.
