SVETLINA 09 concluded at the Krivolak Training Center in Macedonia this year on May 30, 2009. Twelve American and ten Macedonian participants  took part in this event.

The training scenario involved organizing and conducting a humanitarian response to a major earthquake that struck the village of Musanci in the fictional war-torn country of "Atlantica."

There are certain prerequisites for attending the SVETLINA exercises. All understood that they would be living in austere conditions at Camp Pepeliste with little or no telephone or internet contact outside of the training area.
